Sad news. AMY was a lovely little lady, with a wonderful history (I remember how you changed her name from ARMY). AND how you handled her with extraordinary expertise and , yes, grace.

Amy was only about 30 years old

She was at the Fresno Chaffee Zoo

when she died very unexpectadly

She had gone to Scott Riddle's

in Arkansas when Buckles retired

& it was there in 2007 that she

had a female calf Miss Betts

Very sad news indeed

I thought she and Miss Bett were with Scott Riddle at the Sanctuary. I wonder what happened she was still young.

Well, thank you internet. Chic's comments were not up when I typed my comment. She was one of the sweetest fellow mammals I have been privileged to know.

I tried calling the zoo

but it was too early

Actually she was euthanized

on Monday the 11th due to

continuing problems caused

by a torn ligament years ago

Miss Betts is still at the

Fresno zoo along with another

African elephant

Very sad to learn this news. We've all been there with animal losses, and it's never easy. My condolences to all who knew Amy.
