A great tribute to Amy today. Thanks for sharing with us. I wish I'd been able to meet her.

Amy was following in the foot steps of Anna May. She was so very smart, nothing bothered her. Solid as a rock. You could take her any place & do any thing with her she was a PEOPLE like Anna May. I believe it was the way she was raised. The Marlboro Man was so good. He treated her like his child. She even had a pet goat, toys of every kind. And he had special elephant size cookies baked for her. He picked Buckles & I out to own her. She was so very wonderful. He came often to visit with her over the years. He would bring his bull hook with him. Buckles would let him take her into the ring and perform with her. They both seemed to love that. She was Skye's first and only elephant. The first time the two of them performed together, Skye was supposed to just sit with her feet behind Amy's ears, but what did Skye do but go into the same trick that Stormy & Darlene did, with her knee on Amy's neck and her other leg in the air. This was not supposed to happen as they had not practiced that. But Amy took care of Skye, moving ever so gently on the spindle as she turned. And when Amy ran around the ring with the other elephants, Amy would squeeze Skye's legs with her ears. Keeping her safe. When Amy laid down Skye would get up on her side and style. Then it was time for the sit up, Amy would lift her ear for Skye & as she sat up she would hold Skye with her ears, keeping her safe. Skye was only two years old. We did not teach Amy all of these safety features. SHE JUST DID IT ON HER OWN. SHE JUST SEEMED TO KNOW WHAT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO TO KEEP SKYE SAFE. Then later when we were working in The Catskill Game Farm, Patrick, Shannon's eldest son performed with her. He did the dinner table act with her. She seemed to get a kick out of getting him bulls eye with the water. PATRICK DID NOT LIKE THAT PART. But they both seemed to enjoy working together. Patrick was two years old.....Rest in peace my darling elephant, you were an angel " GOD " let us have for a little while. I am thank full for the time we had together. Now you are with Ben, Anna May, & Nirvana. I will be with you all again one day.....LOVE TO ALL MY CHILDREN...Barbara Woodcock...
