While the Police were looking for the owners of the horse, they came looking and saw our car across the drive then saw their horse tied to the Police truck. They only live five acres away from us, just across from the funeral home. The horse belonged to their young daughter. She was so worried. Buckles & I did our good deed for the day. I was so afraid he would run out into the traffic and get hurt or hurt the driver of the car. All is well that ends well. The picture doesn't do the horse justice. He is really beautiful. I was very impressed with the Police to take so much time trying to find the owners. They came about 30:00 minutes after I called, and didn't leave until 10:00. They walked up and down our street looking for the owners. The next step would be to impound him. It was before daylight that the horse walked up to Buckles. So it was an exciting morning for two old folks. Love to all....Barbara....P.S. I am writing this from Buckles computer.

Buckles likes it when he makes a mistake and someone comes in and corrects him. He sometimes feels no one is watching. He enjoys the controversy. So do I. I should make more comments than I do. I think it is called being " Lazy." .....Barbara.....

Good for you guys. One night in Thousand Oaks, I looked out my front door to find a saddled mare looking back at me. Luckily, she let me walk up and take her rein. I tied her to my shrubs and called the deputies. Before they came, the owner was banging on my door offering to hang me for horse theft. It was 2 a.m. and he'd just closed a gin joint to find his horse had moseyed down the trail. The lone deputy kept me from being lynched, but the owner wound up in jail for public drunk. I called Chuck Hayes at Big John Strong's winterquarters, and he took the mare for safekeeping. As Barbara says, "All's well that ends well", especially since I escaped the noose that night.
