Odd setting.
Looks like the Ringling Show's rubber matting?

These images are frame enlargements from an appearance of Klausen's Bears on the Sullivan show.

The correct name is Klauser (not Klausen)

Herta has just returned to Sarasota from

a visit to Chicago

That older rubber had been grommeted

for lacing to eliminate the curling

but the laced edges were hazardous

I just spoke with Herta & she

would like to thank Buckles & Eric

This bear on the ball is Teddy

That's either Gary or Harry Thomas

When circus was circus, the last wagon off the lot was the pole wagon. Beginning with RBB's 1957 indoor show, it was the rubber wagon.

The Sullivan Show DVD lists them as Klausen. Hmmm

I remember seeing the Klauser Bears on the Polack show in the 1950s (I would have been in Jr. high.) The bears performed so well that many classmates assured me that the big one was really a man in a bear suit because bears can't really do those tricks.

Are you sure that wasn't the Ed Solomon Show

(in a few years they won't remember Letterman)

I once saw some small town local theater ad

for "The Mikado" by Gilbert & Solomon

They must have seen Guti's routine Jim

Who was the Jewish comic who used to appear on the Sullivan show and refer to Ed as "Solomon?"

I think that was the vent Ricky Lane's

dummy "Velvel" with a yiddish accent

I think he was trying to sound like

the great Myron Cohen Dave

Likely Jackie Mason.
