1937 Cole Bros. #40

I’m assuming that this is the summer wardrobe for the bull hands during the opening spec. (The daily laundry requirements for the Elephant Department alone must have been staggering.)

Aren't they?

Maybe Spec entered the wrong back door that day.

It's quite possible that the film editor decided to "flop" the image so that the screen direction would match up with the other scenes.

At Lion Country Safari, in Grand Prairie, Texas, I was among the "Senior Lion Rangers". We had an elephant ride, and I gently explained to the townies working on the right side, that the real elephant people led exclusively on the left side, that elephants were broke for left side leading, and that they were walking the circle in the wrong direction. These kids were very local, only out for a summer job, and they hooted and sniffed that they knew better. What is the old saying? "Never try to wise up a chump."
