Mae West's pictures, which she wrote, were credited with saving Paramount during the Depression. Some of her racy lines were structured as double-entendres, but most could hardly have second meanings. The censors were ill- prepared to find the humor, and what made the release print came after the battle. Ms. West lived for 50 years in Suite 611 at the Ravenswood, just down the street from Paramount, at Melrose and Vine. She could have walked home for lunch, but the limo was never in question.
