Alfred Court- Wilson Storey #1 (From John Whitfield)

ALFRED COURT, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

Buckles:
I was married to Tina Storey and I have in my possession many photos of Alfred and
his nephew Wilson Storey with the cats and Alfred in his later years with photos he
sent to Wilson plus a couple cards from Damoo. Here are some photos of the cats.

The photo of Court was taken in Europe prior to the RBBB tour. Wilson with the
cats was in 1943. The picture with the ladies was probably same year but photo
is not dated. I included the photo of Wilson, Pugh, Collins & Stinson as a filler.

Looks like this arena was erected so you could "swing" it after the act.

Buckles,

This picture was taken at the Blackpool Tower Circus. The arena cage was inside the ring curb below ground, submerged in water as they used to flood the ring at the end of the show and drop the floor at the same time. They pulled the cage up in two pieces - quite an achievement when you consider it was pre-WWII. Court normally had a net on top, but it was taken off to take these pictures. This was one of his 18 animal acts, usually 3 polar bears, 2 Himalayan Black Bears, 3 leopards, 2 tigers and 8 male lions with spare animals as well. Court worked the evening show and the new trainer worked the matinees, which would was Anton at this time.
