The Dutchess and Gene? Probably not their positions would be reversed. No harm meant Rebecca. It's just in fun.

Love in the Big Cage?

The fringe on the wardrobe dates it to the 60's or 50's. cc

Wardrobe: 1 pair mens jocky bikini shorts with fringe. 1 merry widow bra with fringe attached. Before colored film, but was red in color. Early 60s

Two weeks without internet in the dirt of west TX and eastern NM and instead of a mudshow we should call it a dust bowl. Problem fixed for the moment. Technology is grand. Randy Peterson sends his greetings and salutations to Shannon and the family Woodcock. Long jump tomorrow. Little sleep. Must be circus season.

Rebecca, you look beautiful as always.

Cage guys. Does anyone remember this net? Paul and Dotties arena. Think it came with Jules to Peru. Not sure. Was set up on stage and a very tight fit. Think it stayed up during the gig. The BUMPES KIDS were also on that date along with MALACOVA [?] the high wire lady performer. Two men doing a swing cradle act with the wife of one styling and doing their props. This outfit belonged to her. I made Genes Jacket. Mr Goodall. Gene was in the right spot. I was the bad guy in this soap oprah.

Soap orprah? Maybe it shuld be on Jerry Springer's show instead! This is the man you married or wa that the JC character you worship?

Its been 45 years ago so I get them confused. Was never married to either. Never worshiped anyone. Just have the most respect for these two great circus people. This is from personal experience, not something I read and was told about by a very hateful and vendicktive person. If you weren't there you will never know the joy of being part of this great circus world. Sorry all you hear are stories from those who could not cut it.

Dutchess, I thought that was you! Look at them legs, wooo!

Thanks Gary. As my hair is still pined up, I have no make up on and I am in underware, it is not a bad picture. One of those things a newspaper person throws at you on the spur of the moment. Where else but on the circus!!!

Anonymous said...

Still no name for the two people. Anyone out there know them?

Dutchess is this the picture of you, that you have been trying to get Buckles to put on the blog?

Anonymous said...

No Gary. You have the picture. {COOCH} This picture was of Gene from when he worked Jules Lions for Paul and Dottie Kelly. The COOCH picture shows Cymbels on my fingers so that makes me a Musical person.

Ah Dutchess, you were quite the hotty though. I'm sure you turned all the young mens heads in those days.

Nothing could be further from the truth. A female working with animals doesn't have the time to be a hottie as you call it. And being one was the last things on my mind. The person I was with kept me so busy I had time to only eat and sleep and work. I was not a real performer in the ring. All back ring curb work. I much perfured to care for and train then perform.

Well, your not hard on the eyes in the mornings as we all check out the blog to get our days started! You, Karen, Barbara are great ways to start any day!

Gary, You silver tung devil you. I think I am in love. No, just need a cup of coffee. There are so many great females out there who need to send photos from the old days. They were all wonderful real women. I would love to see the Herriott women's photos here. I only met Laura and Cindy, but both are real performers and a creit to their familys.

Rebecca that is much the same for me. Never been much for the limelight. Still working long days with 85 plus animals in my care, but wouldn't do anything else.

Was it an early 'Trident' commercial?

The guy is not Glenn Ford, like I thought at first glance. But the girl strongly resembles Ava Gardner, who I put on a pedestal years ago, until Frank came along.

Dutchess, all I can say is your pictures just keep getting better and better! Coochie coochie!!! LOL!

Well were you a performer in the ring or not? From your comments it sounds like you worked in back and trained animals, and did not actually perform? Needed to clear that up. Couple of us older circus folks are trying to keep the story straight. Did John C hire you to work for him behind the scenes as in training or performing? Thught you were married to him also? Or at least married to Gene, the one you want to find, according to your comments. Thank you, Gloria

Never married either one of these wonderful men. Never wanted to. Never was employeed or worked for JC. Just the best of friends. I did perform in the ring, but never felt like I was ever good enough. Only worked animal acts that Eloise trained. The other was just for fun. Web, elephants etc. I trained animals with Gene that we purchased, but do to a tragedy, never performed with them together. He went to Mexico and I never heard from him again. Not until I discovered that he had been in contact with my folks 30 years ago.

Just curious, what picture has the most comments so far?

I would guess this one, although a lot of the comments on this have nothing what so ever to do with the picture. Gloria
